The Bronx is getting a brand-new educational hub!
Construction is progressing steadily in Mott Haven for a new seven-story charter school. This 150,000-square-foot facility will accommodate 1,400 students and is on track for completion before the 2025-2026 school year.
Working alongside Orange County Ironworks (OCI), McLaren’s Construction Engineering team provided crucial design services for the project. Featuring delegate engineering design, the team ensured the building’s structural integrity through crafting connection joints for the six massive 109-foot-long trusses and the braced frames that will form the building’s core support system. Beyond the main structure, McLaren also provided specialized engineering services for the design of four staircases, including a monumental entrance stair.
To assist OCI during the erection process, McLaren provided concept drawings and installation support for temporary bracing to guarantee the stability of the colossal trusses, some weighing a significant 196,000 lbs.
Formerly a taxi depot, the new school will provide much-needed educational opportunities for students in Mott Haven!
