This week’s Climate Action Summit delivered a major step-up in private sector action and plans to transition from brown to green energy. A strong climate agreement backed by action on the ground will help us as a global community achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Three of the UN’s SDGs focus explicitly on engineered infrastructure, putting the AEC industry at the heart of change. Goal 6 ensures the availability of sustainable water management; Goal 7 ensures access to affordable reliable, sustainable and modern energy, and Goal 9 builds resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization–fostering innovation.
McLaren is helping engineer environmental change with projects like a resilient NYC ferry network, design and installation support of solar energy systems along the east coast, coastal shoreline protection and riprap design, green infrastructure underneath NYC playgrounds, the WEDG certified Domino Park Esplanade and green building engineering from LEED to passive house standards.
We are also doing our part to make wind energy a fundamental source in the U.S.
