McLaren’s project for the adaptive re-use of the NYC World’s Fair Fountain won the the 2018 Excellence in Design by the NYC Public Design Commission. Originally built for the 1964 World’s Fair, the historic pool and fountain are located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY.
Reusing the fountain’s existing foundation, the pool will be transformed into an interactive fog garden creating a misting cloud five feet in the air. Working with a great team, Quennell Rothschild & Partners as prime and landscape architect, Delta Fountains as interior piping and nozzle designer, and Wesler Cohen Associates as pump system design; McLaren provided surveying, civil, geotechnical and structural engineering, and construction support services for this award winning project.
