Inside James Earl Jones Theatre After Restoration Improvements Have Been Completed
Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award Winner

The Restoration of Broadway's James Earl Jones Theatre
Wins The NY Landmarks Conservancy Preservation Award

Slated with the The New York Landmarks Conservancy’s highest honor, McLaren’s James Earl Jones Theatre Annex restoration and expansion project was selected as the 2024 winner of the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award that recognizes the top architectural preservation projects in NYC.

The now-renamed Cort Theatre underwent a massive $47 million restoration and renovation which integrated a modern Annex expansion. McLaren provided a full range of structural, entertainment, civil, geotechnical, survey, and signage engineering services for the project. The team also helped convert the theater’s antiquated hemp rigging system to a modern counterweight system in the stage house.

This project, a collaboration between McLaren and The Shubert Organization, guarantees the James Earl Jones Theatre will continue to entertain audiences for generations to come.
