Beach nourishment and management are critical for preserving our coastlines against erosion and sea-level rise. Our services include shoreline modeling, sand/material analysis, and community planning to ensure the success of nourishment projects. We conduct pre- and post-construction surveys to monitor and optimize the effectiveness of these efforts as well as supporting dredging contractors to ensure project success. By replenishing sand and maintaining beach health, we support both ecological integrity, recreational value, and health and safety of coastal infrastructure.
Shoreline Modeling
Utilizing shoreline models to predict and manage beach dynamics. Accurate modeling informs effective beach nourishment and protection strategies.
Sand/Grain Size Analysis
Analyzing sand and grain size to inform nourishment projects. The right grain size is essential for the stability and appearance of nourished beaches.
Beach Design
Engineered nourished beach profiles, including sensitivity to design storm events, sand volume availability, and project goals.
Planning and Community Outreach
Engaging with communities to develop and implement effective beach management plans. Community involvement ensures that projects meet local needs and gain public support. Additionally, community outreach is where McLaren Engineers can educate and inform the public about project challenges, goals, benchmarks, and schedules.
Pre and Post Construction Surveying
Conducting thorough hydro and topographic surveys before and after construction to ensure proper volume and location of sediment placement, as well as overall project success. Surveys help in monitoring the effectiveness of beach nourishment efforts.
