With a striking faceted metal clad facade, 22 Chapel Street is Brooklyn’s new 20-story mixed-use residential building in DUMBO.
To help ensure the high performance exterior cladding was efficient yet aesthetically iconic, our building envelope team worked with Bamco to provide engineering design services for the connection of the CAP (composite aluminum panel) facade system to the structure’s light gauge framing. To mitigate thermal bridging and prevent building envelope heat loss, the team also provided custom structural design of the thermal girts behind the metal panels.
Above 22 Chapel’s main entrance, the team also provided calculations for the connection of the translucent Kalwall panel system to the supporting structure. The contrasted flat facade system spans 12 stories and provides a daylighting system for energy efficiency.
