Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park Improvements

McLaren Engineering Group assessed and enhanced 2,500 linear feet of shoreline embankment at Dobbs Ferry’s Waterfront Park along the Hudson River. The design improvements included shoreline stabilization, the addition of boat berthing facilities, a fishing pier, and provisions for installing floating boat docks.

The Village aimed not only to stabilize the shoreline but also to develop the waterfront areas for recreational and practical use. The floating docks were specifically designed to accommodate the local Police Department’s vessels on the Hudson River.

Shoreline Rehabilitation and Development

McLaren provided marine engineering and surveying services to evaluate and design the most cost-effective solutions for developing and rehabilitating the shoreline.

Services included:
  • Shoreline Rip Rap Revetment Inspection and Assessment
  • Hydrographic Survey
  • Shoreline Stabilization Design: Designed 1,350 linear feet of new Rip Rap revetment and 200 linear feet of composite sheet pile bulkhead with a concrete cap and tie-back system
  • Fishing Pier Design: Designed an approximately 75-foot timber and recycled plastic lumber (RPL) fishing pier
  • Floating Dock and Aluminum Gangway Design: Designed docks to support local police vessels as well as transient boaters
  • Cost Analysis Preparation
  • Construction Document Development
  • Permitting Assistance
  • Construction Administrative Services

A key element of the project’s success was addressing coastal design issues related to significant environmental forces, as well as navigating federal and state coastal permitting processes. McLaren worked to mitigate physical and visual impacts on the surrounding environment.

Additionally, McLaren provided bid phase support, construction consulting services, public hearing attendance, and New York State Department of State (NYSDOS) project reporting.
