Creating an iconic NYC Fashion Week runway experience to compliment a designer’s collection requires a lot of engineering behind the scenes.
Helping debut NYFW’s Spring/Summer 2023 collections, our entertainment team set the stage for some of the biggest names in fashion, transforming unassuming indoor and outdoor spaces around NYC into immersive fashion venues.
Each required custom temporary structures and show elements, specialized rigging, permitting, load rating calculations, and ever-changing configurations to ensure a flawless collection debut.
Tom Ford’s sequin-studded show at Skylight on Vessy transformed an open indoor floorplan into a mirrored ballroom runway. McLaren worked with BNW Rigging INC to provide permitting and structural engineering services for a 3D mod truss structure that supported the show’s LED, audio, and lighting loads, as well as ceiling panels, and attached walls sections to create a polished-disco runway look.
Tory Burch took a 90’s glam vibe outdoors, to Pier 76. Working with Dynamic Productions USA, we evaluated the steel pier steel superstructure and reinforcements for live loads including the installment of manufactured tents, fabric draping, and an aluminum box truss for rigging of lighting equipment and ten audio clusters. The show also featured a giant art display consisting of several circular mirrors supported by vertical shafts serving as a focal point for the event.
Marni brought an edgy vintage street style collection to the Dumbo Tunnel under the Manhattan Bridge. Working with BNW Rigging, we provided structural engineering for a 3D truss structure used to support the show’s LED/audio/visual attachments as well as sixteen 16’ tall lighting towers used to illuminate the venue.
