Harriman State Park – Utility Access Road Design

McLaren Engineering Group designed a utility access road for Harriman State Park in Tuxedo, NY. New power poles needed to be installed, and access from the road to the poles was required at locations where the road was not adjacent to the poles. In order to successfully complete this project, McLaren prepared a preliminary plan and construction drawings, as well as a summary of the required permits.

The McLaren Difference: Applied Ingenuity

Based on McLaren’s preliminary reconnaissance of the site, areas were found where the road could not transverse the existing power line clearing due to rock ledges or wetlands. At those locations, McLaren identified an alternate route around the restricted area, allowing the road to continue.

McLaren worked with the local utility to obtain information on the existing line and confirm specifications and requirements for the utility pole installation. McLaren also completed a field delineation of all federal wetlands and waters in accordance with the Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual, and completed a Stormwater Pollution Plan (SWPPP).
