National Aquarium Dolphin Discovery Inspections

Dolphin Discovery, the National Aquarium’s largest exhibit and home to six Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, undergoes above and underwater condition assessments to ensure a safe and secure home for its colony. Routine inspections of underwater concrete structures is integral for continued maintenance and mitigation efforts.

Underwater + External Inspections

McLaren’s marine engineers performed dive inspections of four reinforced concrete Dolphin Exhibit tanks at the Pier 4 Building in Baltimore. Simultaneously, structural assessments of dry concrete were performed by our structural engineers to evaluate the external components of the display.

The team has been working on the Aquarium’s Dolphin pools since 2004, having been part of its initial restoration.
