NYPD Marinas
McLaren Engineering Group provided professional engineering investigation and design services to improve two marinas owned by the New York Police Department (NYPD) at Harbor George Marina at College Point and Randall’s Island Marina in NYC.
The McLaren Difference: Applied Ingenuity
At the NYPD harbor marina site at College Point, McLaren inspected conditions of existing wooden piles and bulkhead sheet piles and determined that the marina required a complete replacement. McLaren worked with the NYPD team and New York City Office of General Services to develop the design for the new marina and wave fence, and provided full construction administration services during the construction of the marina.
McLaren also performed an underwater inspection to assess the conditions at Randall’s Island Marina in the Bronx, NY. After examination, McLaren found that both sheet piles and wooden piles were in poor condition. The firm provided full design services for the construction of a new marina floating dock system and oversaw repair of the collapsing bulkhead, replacement of the dock system, dredging to remove the excess silt, and installation of a wave fence and a silt filtering system.
Additional Services
McLaren Engineering Group also provided flood plain mapping, a marine navigation study, and borer study.
