NYSDOT Bundled Bridges Design-Build 2017
McLaren Engineering Group worked to design the replacement / rehabilitation of six bridges throughout the lower Hudson Valley region. The $47 million Bundled Bridges Project for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) encompassed the counties of Westchester and Orange. The initiative is part of an effort to strengthen New York State’s at-risk bridges to withstand the increasing frequency of severe weather events and storms. The project improves hydraulic openings and reduces the likelihood of flooding on bridges and adjoining roadways.
Bridge Design
McLaren was responsible for the overall engineering design and construction support services on all six bridges. Several of them are in high-volume corridors where maintenance and protection of traffic and congestion management were the primary concern. McLaren’s in-depth and expansive experience in public transportation and bridge engineering greatly reduced traffic impacts to the region during construction.
McLaren also provided seismic design, Stormwater Pollution Plan (SWPPP) design, and erosion control design.
Award Winning
This bundled bridges design-build project was named Tappan Zee Large Project of the Year in 2017 by the American Society of Civil Engineers, New York Metropolitan Section Lower Hudson Valley Branch.
