Route 42 Replacement Bridges

McLaren Engineering Group collaborated with Halmar International, LLC on this $14.1 million emergency reconstruction project for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). A six-mile stretch of road and two bridges were destroyed by severe flooding caused by strong storms, including Hurricane Irene. McLaren took quick action to design State Route 42 in Greene County, NY, and put this main transportation artery back into place.

Fast Action Bridge Replacement

McLaren’s fast action made the difference on this NYSDOT project. The firm provided a full bridge replacement design including piles, foundations, abutments, wing walls, bearings, superstructure and guide rails. This effort included the development of plans, specifications, and the necessary construction inspection to assure construction was in conformance with plans and specifications.

In addition to the steel bridge work, McLaren also provided planning and peer review services for the bridge approaches along Route 42. Our scope of services extended to include seismic design, utility surveys, easement surveys, and precise construction line and grade line surveys.
