Scotland Hill Road Bridge Replacement

McLaren Engineering Group provided design services for the bridge replacement of Scotland Hill Road Bridge over the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) in Chestnut Ridge, NY. The new structure accommodates a 32’ clear roadway width (two 11’ travel lanes and 5’ shoulders). The over-roadway profile was raised to meet the 16’-6” minimum vertical clearance requirement and to accommodate a minor increase in superstructure depth.

The new bridge is a three-span continuous superstructure with integral abutments, two piers: one in the median and one in the gore between southbound mainline and the southbound ramp to the Garden State Parkway. The approach roadways were reconstructed at each end to accommodate the new bridge and an off-site detour was maintained during construction.
