SeaGlass Carousel Engineering

McLaren Engineering Group provided carousel engineering services for a unique merry-go-round in New York City’s Battery Park. Patrons sit on rainbow-hued translucent fish that swim, swoop and swerve through a simulated underwater environment. The SeaGlass Carousel’s groundbreaking design combines modern multi-axis ride technology with state-of-the-art multimedia projections, music and lighting.

McLaren’s mission was to engineer an exciting, innovative ride that was technically feasible and safe, while honoring the creative vision of the client. Our carousel engineering team went the extra mile–delivering complete structural, mechanical and electrical engineering for the ride system, while also providing the site/civil work for the building. McLaren’s entertainment engineers produced comprehensive 3D models, performed motion and velocity studies to ensure rider safety, and coordinated on space, geometry and functional issues to ensure an integrated custom design.
