Solar Rooftop Installation

Working with a solar contractor, McLaren provided Structural Engineering consultation for a solar rooftop installation of a panel racking system installed on this commercial building in Staten Island.

Rooftop Solar Supports

The integrity of the structural framing system for this solar rooftop installation was reviewed to analyze whether the building could support the loads of the arrays.

Giving special attention to the roof framing and supporting gravity system, including the roofing composition, roof deck, roof joists, roof girders and columns as well as the dimensional layout of the framing, a drawing package was developed. The analysis showed the overall placement of the racking system and loads imposed, enabling the facility to develop a structurally sound source of green energy.

Drawings were also submitted to NYC Hub for permitting.
